Artist Research - Miki Takahashi

 Miki Takahashi

After research and studying at Miki Takahashi work noticed her work very modern and recent, you can notice this by the colours that are portrayed in her images. Another factor is I was able to notice she was available to different materials to use for her photography like film cameras and digital cameras and high quality editing programmes such as Photoshop. Another factor that stood out to me about her work being modern, was the sources that were included in her images for instance this photo to the left of the streets inside the figures face presents bright street lights and traffic, this brings to my mind a typical city view such as London, which is a city which has grew in wealth and technology over the past years.

Within her combination of images she uses a variety of subjects, the one I admire the most is the use of flowers (Right). In my eyes the way she has combined the flowers and the model make the model look, half flower women. What I also Like about this image is the way the flower gives the image that extra colour and how the colour really highlight the abnormality of the image. Another thing I prefer about this image is how using a flower as an combining object it gives the image a really texture from the colour of the leafs and also the composition of of them.
Also I believe Miki's has use the combination of flower in her work to symbolises natural in this image. I was inspired to thinking this thought because flowers are a symbol of natural beauty and the model herself isn't wearing make up to highlight her face, so this also adds to the natural thoughts behind this image.

What I Intend To do Next

From researching and studying Miki's work in my own eyes, her work has inspired me to use flowers and use them to combine with a model. Again in this next shoot I will also emphasis about the facial expression, but also work on the placing and different angles of the models face.
Also I will emphasises in this shoot compared to the last shoot inspired by Oliver Morris, is the use of colour in my images, because I really believe it gives thee images a sense of life.
